To eat or not to eat: That is the question

How many times have we committed to dieting and the idea sounded wonderful ... at first ?  A day later, the entire idea is simply absurd and ridiculous after we exchanged several glances with that delicious, creamy chocolate cake in the fridge ? (this applies to both men and women) Who let the chocolate cake in the house ?!?!

When are we going to get it right ? Is the skinny chick or the buff guy at the gym going to intimidate us enough to make us hop on the treadmill for 5 hours straight or are we just gonna embrace our inner beauty and hope that everyone sees us through the eyes of the hypnotized Shallow Hal ?

Does it even matter ? Unless someone has serious life threatening health issues due to obesity, I'd tell them to embrace his or her curves. Also, not everyone wants to lose weight. Some people need to gain weight. Regardless of which side of the spectrum you are on, know that what is important is what is on the inside. Cliché ? Perhaps, but there are people that might not be visually desirable to some, yet when they speak, the beauty and sweetness that flows from their mouth makes everything else void. If you have the confidence to simply be you, keep doing it. Simply know that you will touch someone in a special way.

For those of us that want to lose those 20,30,40,50 lbs that we have been talking about for years, maybe having some accountability might be a good idea. Hmmm, that is something to consider. It might be a good idea to challenge ourselves to living healthier lives that involve eating the right foods and exercising on a regular basis not simply exercising our "bootays" off when we see that commercial with the beautiful airbrushed model that wears a size negative 20 pair of low rise jeans. Informing others about our goals may instill in us a sense of responsibility. I believe it might be a great motivator.

Regardless of where we stand on this issue, I believe that moderation is also key. However, do not let yourself be controlled by moderation. Live a little ! If having a piece of that chocolate cake will put a smile on your face, then go ahead and have two pieces ! (:

  1. So true ... endless promises to ourselves to lose weight ... tone this ... sculpt that ... ah yes ... the countless hours of working out and torturing ourselves for not having that "discipline" that will surly drive us to that smaller size ... ah ... the madness of it all. These days I seem to be stuck with physical weight loss but all is well; I have accepted this temporary set back. So what is this woman of age(me)to do? I have moved on to other areas that I must continue to keep running efficiently ... that is to keep my brain and heart active and healthy ... with Scriptures in tow and true friends in reach. My God, my Xela ... love you.
